Marketing Intern
Learn. Create. Grow.
Learn to create marketing for real chapter communities. CliqWave brings announcements, events, attendance, and follow through into one app for fraternities, sororities, and student organizations, helping keep communication consistent when officers change.
We are a small, fast moving team. This remote educational internship is hands on from day one, combining instruction and observation with guided practice creating real content for real chapters. You will learn how approved work reaches an audience, with staff review before publication. Publishing a particular piece is not guaranteed, and your learning comes first.

Learn from an experienced marketing leader
You will work under our SVP of Marketing, who brings more than 20 years of experience. The internship includes close supervision, regular instruction, weekly feedback, and guided projects. You will not be expected to run marketing on your own.
Daymond John’s team occasionally provides CliqWave with advice on its social media. That advice is separate from this internship; supervision and mentoring are provided by CliqWave. The role does not promise access to or mentorship from Daymond John or his team.
What you will learn
- Audience research: identify student and chapter leader needs and turn research into a clear audience brief.
- Brand messaging: practice writing clear, audience focused copy and refine it through feedback.
- Social content development: create supervised content drafts and learn how to plan a cohesive campaign.
- Marketing analytics: interpret engagement data, distinguish useful signals from vanity metrics, and explain what you would test next.
- Portfolio development: bring your learning together in a final campaign case study, with feedback from your supervisor.
What you will actually be doing and learning
Your supervisor will select projects that support your learning objectives, demonstrate the process, and review your work with you. Guided practice may include:
- Social copy and captions: draft and revise content for Instagram, X, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok while learning platform specific tone and hashtag strategy.
- Short form video: practice scripting, storyboarding, and editing vertical videos featuring our founder and participating chapters.
- Seasonal campaigns: learn how to build and help run campaigns such as our Chapter Cup recruitment contest, from concept through copy, creative, supervised launch tasks, and results review. Your supervisor will coach each stage and retain responsibility for campaign delivery.
- Outreach writing: draft emails for chapters, national organizations, and chapter ambassador initiatives for staff review, rather than independently manage outreach.
- Audience and account research: practice researching target accounts and maintaining chapter and prospect information in spreadsheets. Learn how that information supports outreach, with staff checking accuracy and retaining ownership of the ongoing research process.
- Website and creative work: help keep website copy current as our offering evolves by drafting updates for review. Pitch memes, contest concepts, and seasonal hooks for a Greek life and college audience, then refine your ideas through coaching.
Staff may use approved work, but publication volume, lead quotas, and independently running campaigns are not the purpose of the internship. Your progress will be evaluated through learning goals, revisions, reflection, and a final portfolio review.
A defined, education first experience
The internship is remote and runs from an agreed start date through the end of the fall 2026 semester in December. Your exact start and end dates, learning plan, weekly schedule, and meeting times will be agreed in writing before you begin. The weekly schedule of 10 to 20 hours will accommodate classes, exams, and academic commitments.
You will begin with onboarding and learning goals, progress through guided practice and feedback, and finish with a portfolio review. Projects supplement rather than replace the work of paid employees. CliqWave staff retain responsibility for publishing, operational deadlines, and ongoing marketing work.
This is an unpaid educational internship. There is no expectation of compensation and no entitlement to or promise of a paid position afterward. Academic credit, if pursued, is subject to your school’s approval and is not guaranteed.
Who this is for
You may be studying marketing, communications, media, or a related field, or building those skills through your own projects. You enjoy writing clearly in different voices and want to get better at it. You can take constructive feedback without taking it personally, and use revisions as a chance to learn.
You are curious about social platforms as a creator or strategist, not just a scroller. Video editing experience, familiarity with Canva or Adobe tools, and class projects or a portfolio are welcome, but not required.
Comfort with a small startup matters more than a polished resume. Some projects begin with an open question rather than a finished brief, so bring ideas, try approaches with guidance, and ask when you are stuck. That flexibility does not mean learning without support: you will receive onboarding, a defined learning plan, close supervision, and regular feedback.
